For the last three weeks, I have been feeling the effects of another intense light upgrade both personally and within Reiki sessions. This one is the biggest I've felt since September - December 2020 and it's a doozy!!!! Light upgrades open our Universal heart chakra even more so that we can connect lovingly with one another on a deeper level, but they also require deep clearing of shadow behaviours and suppressed raw emotions that have been buried for years so that we can integrate these higher Divine energies. This can result in big reactions to small things, irritability, unusual behaviour, physical illness symptoms, aches and pains, the list goes on - until we have released those emotions. The guidance coming through is that this upgrade will continue until the end of May.

If you're feeling a bit overwhelmed, lost at sea or just feel you need a bit of help, come and have a Reiki session. I have been working on integrating this light upgrades within sessions and also reducing the impact of the clearings. It doesn't mean we can avoid feeling what we need to feel, but it gives you the love and support you need to be able to do this is a safe, loving environment and the Reiki energies do make it easier and accelerate the integration. Reiki has helped me so much to connect with deep grief that I haven't been able to clear until now and I feel so much better for having let it out while in the loving arms of the Divine Reiki energies. You're never alone in this journey, the Guides are always here to help.

Also choose not to take anything personally. When these light upgrades are being integrated into our energy fields, they create deep feelings of vulnerability and people behave in unusual ways when feeling so exposed, so be patient with one another, this is just the clearing, and once the light upgrade is complete, we'll all feel love on a deeper level, which is just what this planet needs right now. So when your loved one has a big reaction and you're feeling hurt, sad or wondering why, remember it's the light upgrade and they're just letting out old feelings that feel like they're about what's happening today, but they're not, they're from something that happened in the past. Exactly the same thing is happening to you and they're probably thinking the same thing! So it's not personal, it's just a deep clearing. See the vulnerability rather than the behaviour. It's happening for our greater good!

Human beings feel positive and negative emotions every day - it's a part of being human and it's our way of detecting what is good for us and what is not. So if we feel down after being with someone, it suggests that they have a draining effect on our energy field. If we feel good after spending time with someone, they have a positive effect on our energy field - there is a great scientific explanation for this presented by Dr Bruce Lipton here . So think of emotions as a way of determining what is good and not so good for us. Same goes for situations. Sometimes we go through something which puts us into emotional overload. Those types of events happen to us to teach us something - you can read about it in Many Lives, Many Masters by Dr Brian Weiss - our purpose for being here - our soul's growth. Part of healing that emotional overload is to keep processing the emotions until we heal that wound and learn the soul lesson of that event. One of mine was being bullied as a kid and then becoming a bully myself - when I finally healed that wound and overcame the behaviour pattern in myself, it became a tool for being powerful, strong and resilient when I need to confront shadow and darkness - I feel it flowing through me - this sense that I can confront, overcome and heal darkness (happens sometimes in Reiki when people bring dark energy in that needs to be removed during a healing) and also stand up to bullies, especially for children. So that was the gift of me being bullied and terrorised as a kid. There is a gift for you in what you've experienced, and as you unveil that gift you'll need to bring up and process or release the emotions until it turns into a life tool to use as a part of your purpose.

So what should we do when that old emotional wounding comes up to clear? Here's some steps:

Look out for Red Flags:

Work out what are signs that you are clearing old emotions. For example getting prickly and irritable all of a sudden, feel anxious, not good enough, self conscious, angry, judgmental, withdrawn, aggressive etc. When we start feeling like this for no obvious reason, it's a red flag that we're having an emotional clearing day - it's called 'clearing' (the emotional body) - ideally we should let loved ones know we were 'clearing' and that we might not be our selves so they don't take it personally.  What are your red flags when you start to get emotionally wobbly? Start paying attention what happens when you don't feel yourself. Once you know what they are you'll be able to recognise that you've started 'clearing'.

Give the Emotion Your Attention:

When you notice a 'red flag' behaviour like feeling irritable, do something to check in with yourself and find out what's going on internally. I usually sit down on the bed (or in the loo if there's lots of people around) and ask myself 'What's wrong? What's bothering you today?' and then I think about things that usually push my buttons and when I get to the right one, I feel the emotion come up from my belly and sometimes get teary and I know then what it is that I'm clearing. So for example some of them were 'I'm boring' or 'I'm not good enough' or 'I'm invisible' Then if you feel like it, have a cry, let it out, just have a good sob if needed. When you do that you release that old emotion and you feel lighter and it's gone - it just needed to be acknowledged.

Change How You Feel:

Even if you haven't had a chance to check in with your emotions yet, start to work on changing how you feel straight away and building up your energy. Think of things you're grateful for, list as many as you can think of. Think what you'd like your day to be like, how you'd like to feel to create that. Do a Reiki self healing if you've learned Reiki. Go and sit in the garden and admire the beauty of the plants and trees. Go for a walk in nature. Have a salt bath. Listen to the Reiki meditation. Apply some essential oils. Play sound bowls. Do some gardening. All of these activities will lift your energy and your mood and bring you back to your best self. Not only will this improve how you're feeling, it will also make a difference to the people in your life as you are more likely to treat them with love and respect despite going through a wobble - and to me that makes it so worthwhile to work on myself!

That's it!!! Simple! Just takes some practice :D

I created this breathing exercise for when we are feeling anxious, stressed, when the mind is racing or we feel ungrounded or disconnected.  It only takes a few minutes and will change your state to calm, clear, relaxed and grounded very easily.  Enjoy!

Close your eyes

Place your hands on your stomach.

Focus on the feeling of the warmth of your hands on your stomach.

Focus on breathing into your stomach

Take three deep breaths

As you are breathing in, think 'I am breathing in calm, peace and energy'. As you breathe out, think 'I am breathing out stress, anxiety and tensions'

Place your hands on your belly. Focus on the feeling of the warmth of your hands on your belly

Focus on breathing into your belly

Take three deep breaths

As you are breathing in, think 'I am breathing in calm, peace and energy'. As you breathe out, think 'I am breathing out stress, anxiety and tensions'

For the third, place your hands on your knees and focus on the feeling of your feet on the floor

Take three deep breaths

As you are breathing in, think 'I am breathing in calm, peace and energy'. As you breathe out, think 'I am breathing out stress, anxiety and tensions'

Then focus your attention into the centre of the Earth.

Send roots out of your feet, down through the Earth to the molten centre of the Earth.

Take three deep breaths

As you are breathing in, think 'I am breathing in calm, peace and energy'. As you breathe out, think 'I am grounded, connected and centred into Mother Earth'

When you've finished, open your eyes and look straight in front of you at something to bring yourself back to the present.

I have been hearing the hashtag 'Australia burns' a lot in the media. This is a way to create more fires because our words become our reality, so I have created an alternative hastag to counter and uplift:

Please share and visualise an Australia that is green, lush and healed with all the water falling that we need for plants, animals and humans to thrive, an Australia that is in perfect ecological balance. Be a part of the solution!!!!

Below is a saging ritual I use to clear my home and healing room of any lower frequencies and then invite Divine energies into the space.

First open all doors and windows. Put the sage in a large metal bowl. Light it, let it burn for about 10 seconds, then gently blow out the flame. The sage will then smoulder and smoke. While it is smoking, walk into each room, really smoking it out. Just note as you walk around that little pieces of ash may fly out of the bowl if you move the bowl too quickly, so waft it around slowly and gently.

When you have plenty of smoke in a room, command any negative energies to leave the room by saying:

'I command anything of a lower vibration to leave this sacred space and my (our) energy field(s).'

Then ask Divine golden white light to fill yourself and your home by saying:

'I am invoking and anchoring Divine golden white light into this room and my (our) energy field(s).'

Continue this process in each room / space of the house until you have completed all of them.

Leave doors and windows open until most of the smoke has cleared. Your home should now feel lighter and brighter!

Here's an article about how to use sage and why it works.

What NSW and Queensland, in fact the whole of Australia needs right now is several days of constant steady rain. Please help to create this by stating the above invocation (prayer) several times a day. There is power in our thoughts and intentions, and in particular there is power in groups creating together so suspend your doubts and pour your love into creating what we need - THANK YOU!!!

I've had several cancellations over the last week due to illness but it's at these times that Reiki can really help! Did you know I can send Reiki to you wherever you are in the world? Reiki transcends time and space and a distance healing feels just like when you're here in the room with me at Figtree Holistic Therapies. To start, we have a chat like we always do, but instead over the phone, or if you're not feeling well enough, via text or messaging to briefly let me know what you'd like me to work on for you. Then you lie down at home, just like you would when you're here, and I send the healing to you.

So if you're feeling ill or blue and just can't get out of the house, consider a distance healing instead.

Incredibly inspiring podcast with Lynne McTaggart about the power of altruistic group intention - how it not only helps the receiver but even more so helps the givers! Highly recommend listening to this one. Thanks for the share Sarah @ The List - Illawarra (on Facebook).

Sarah Tobin, who runs 'The List - Illawarra', an online directory for businesses in my local area, asked me the question 'What is Reiki?'  Here is the article Sarah wrote after our discussions.

Last night I woke up in the middle of the night and started thinking about things. I had some emotions coming up and was feeling worried and down. I couldn't get back to sleep, so I practiced a gratitude technique which always helps me relax and fall back to sleep quickly. This technique can help you return to peace if you're feeling worried.

Just start thinking about things that you're grateful for, all the good things in your life. By doing this you'll stop focusing on what is worrying you, and you'll start to feel more relaxed, calm and peaceful.

When we worry, our thoughts are based on outcomes that may never happen, or things that have already happened which we can't change. While you worry, you can't enjoy whatever you are doing there and then. That's what living in the present means. While you worry about the future or the past, you miss out on the present moment because your mind is elsewhere. You could miss out on a smile from a friend or stranger in the street, seeing something beautiful like a seal or dolphin in the surf, noticing how lovely the sun feels on your skin as you're walking. You miss all of this because your mind is thinking about the past or future and is not in the present moment, enjoying what's happening right now. And right now could be a wonderful moment of peace if you just noticed it.

To bring you back into the present, you can use the gratitude technique. This is how it's done. Start listing in your mind anything and everything you are grateful for. Look around you and see what's worth giving thanks for. Start each setence with 'I am grateful for.....

Here's the sorts of things I was thinking last night to help me relax, bring my mind back into the moment and get me back to sleep:

I am grateful for my bed.

I am grateful for how warm and cosey my blanket feels.

I am grateful I have a roof over my head and a safe warm place to sleep.

I am grateful for my beautiful home.

I am grateful for my beautiful garden.

I am grateful for the beautiful view of Mt Keira from my backyard.

I am grateful for my job, which I love.

I am grateful for the meal I had for dinner.

I am grateful I have food to eat and clean water to drink.

I am grateful for the challenges in my life which are helping me to grow as a person.

I am grateful that my body is healthy.

I am grateful for the beautiful beaches near me.

I am grateful for the amazing nature all around this area.

I am grateful for........etc

As you think of all the good things in your life, you'll relax, you are opening and healing your heart chakra and the worry will melt away.

Within minutes I was asleep.

But it takes some practice - when I first started thinking of things to be grateful for it would take me a while because I hadn't done it before, but over time, it became really easy.

This is one of the main spiritual teachings I have come to understand through experience - learning how to live in the present moment. It's one of the most challenging but exciting things I've learnt how to do on my journey to becoming a therapist, and it's brought me great peace and relief as I used to worry about people, events and things all day, every day!!!

So give this a go and see how you do. Once you get used to thinking of things to be grateful for, you'll want to do it every day because it feels so good!  ❤❤❤

I am currently dealing with a person's control drama. Yesterday as I was doing my Reiki self heal, the guides popped an idea in my head to share my experience on here. When I finished my session, I drew a card from my animal medicine cards and it was the Wolf, the teacher!!! The message was to share what I am learning to guide others, so here it is!!!

Dealing with a control drama is an incredible opportunity for me to practice compassion, stand in my power, have clear boundaries and to express righteous anger if needed. It is also a great chance for me to check in on myself and see if and where I may be running my own control dramas. I have asked myself: Has this person turned from being friendly to blaming and attacking to show me something about my own behaviour I am in denial about? It has been a real growth process but also challenging experience for which I am very grateful.

In checking in on my own behaviour, I have been reviewing how I used to behave before I started working on myself. I used to run control dramas on people every day! Why? Well that took years to work out with the guidance and leadership of my amazing mentor Susie Anthony. Susie helped me to understand I ran control dramas because I was attempting to feed off other people's energy whenever I felt tired, vulnerable, out of balance, afraid, angry, depressed, you name it, there was always a reason. In doing so, I was blaming and attacking other people for my state, for the life I had created for myself, for my emotions, my thoughts, my experiences - it was everyone else's fault. As I blamed other people for how I was feeling, I then attacked them for making my life miserable. I thought (mistakenly) that I was a victim of other people's could they treat me that way? That's the sort of false belief sentences that were running through my mind regularly.

What Susie helped me to see was that I was the one who was making everyone else's life miserable!!! Ever heard the phrases: 'Spot it, you got it' or 'Pot kettle black'? I was doing the attacking, blaming, energy stealing, I was bullying and putting people into states of fear by just being in the room whenever I felt off centre. I (unconsciously) thought I was SO important that everyone should pay attention to me, should follow my instructions, that I should have an opinion about everyone around me and if it wasn't taken into account, then I would be 'hurt' and take it personally. I was a mess!!! No wonder my life wasn't working! I was living from a place of fear and separation and I was miserable.

With Susie's guidance I came to understand that through my negative judging attacking thoughts ('can't believe she's wearing that', 'how could they treat me like that', 'it's your fault', 'I'm soooo tired today', 'I'll never be able to do that', 'I'm terrified of making a mistake' etc), I was depleting my own energy and then needing to steal more from others - and voila, you have the perfect scenario for a control drama. Note the word CONTROL - what I was trying to control was the flow of energy between myself and others. When you behave in a way that leaves another person feeling unloved, a control for energy ensues. We all need energy to survive. Think how you feel when you've missed a few meals - you feel weary and weak. Well the same thing happens on a purely energetic level. We all need some form of energy to survive, we are filled with it when we are born - think of the beautiful energy of a new born baby - and we lose our connection to that energy as we start to experience pain. So we have this innate need to keep finding it. That's where control dramas become relevant in our lives. By acting unloving towards another - by being aloof, angry, aggressive, a doormat, victim, fixer, interrogator (endless questions), talking incessantly even when no-one's interested etc, we attempt to put others in a state of worry, concern or anger. They start wondering what's caused us to behave this way...have they done something wrong, is it their fault? This is particularly relevant in relationships, between parents and their children. Children want to be loved by their parents. If any of the behaviour patterns above are run by parents on their children (who happen to be a lovely fat juicy source of energy because they are still open energetically), the children starting second guessing what they have done to make Mum or Dad stop loving them. While they are thinking this, they are sending lots of energy to their parents as thoughts carry energy. The parents are feeding off this energy, which gives them a good feeling. So the parent repeats the behaviour to get that energy boost. The child meanwhile is trying to work out how they can get energy from the parent - what type of behaviour will get approval and therefore loving energy? If they can't work that out, and they are readily punished for misbehaviour, they will misbehave because any attention (energy) is better than none. As children grow up, they learn how to behave in the world by watching their parents. They start to repeat the energy stealing behaviour patterns of their parents. That's when things really kick off!!! Why is that?

Well if there's one thing that really pushes our buttons, it's seeing our own denied energy stealing patterns mirrored back to us. The reason it pushes our buttons so badly is because deep down we know what we're doing and we don't like that we're behaving that way, so when we see it in another person, we attack it instead of taking self-responsibility for how we are hurting others. I can share this as a truth because I have recognised and transformed this in myself (with a LOT of help from my mentor Susie). So when parents start to notice their own denied energy stealing patterns learned by their children, and they don't choose to see that it is their own behaviour denied, they attack (and probably call it punishment) their children instead of taking self-responsibility. I have seen it SOOOO many times. And to be honest, I feel angry about it. I feel a deep need to share this information with adults to help them to take self responsibility, to stop hurting their children, to create a generation who are an upgrade of themselves - isn't that what we're here to do? To create a better version of ourselves?

So this is why the Wolf came to me in the animal medicine cards yesterday - share what I have been taught, lived, transformed authentically so that we can create more love on this planet.

The key is - if your goal is to stop stealing energy from others, where are you going to get it from? Well for me, the answer is Reiki. A Reiki self healing transforms me from a potential energy stealer to an energy giver. As I'm sending beautiful Reiki energy into each chakra, I can feel my state transforming from one of edginess, busy-ness, distracted mentally, to one of peace, calm, loving thoughts, single pointed focus, clarity and just plain feeling great!!! I also receive clarity on situations that I haven't been able to resolve, answers just pop into my head because I have changed my energetic state to one where I can 'tune in' to my own incredible powerful intuition. Those messages can't come through when we are in a state of stress and chaos, because they vibrate at a higher frequency.

The other key is self-responsibility - taking stock. How have I behaved today? Have I been compassionate and loving, or have I been hurtful towards anyone today? Did I lose my cool? Did I miss the expression on someone's face when I was so direct (I have a habit of being brutally direct!) Did someone need my help and I missed it because I was too busy to notice? These are SUCH important questions to ask ourselves, because they are the KEY to having an amazing life. If we miss these moments, resentments and anger build up in our relationships. If not dealt with in the moment, these can lead to fights, hurting others, depression, breakdown of families and friendships. It also magnetises people into our lives who operate on the same energy wavelength. Whatever types of behaviours we run, we'll draw people into our lives who run the same behaviours, because that's why we're here - to learn to transform those behaviours and other people running our denied behaviours are our greatest teachers!!! So the universe is sending them to you to help you wake up and change your behaviour and through this, change your life for the better!!! Isn't it amazing?!?! Makes life really interesting.

So the next time you're thinking you can't believe someone could 'act that way', take a moment, turn that thought inward and ask yourself 'Have I ever acted that way, anywhere, at any time in my life?' If that answer is yes (and if you're really annoyed and upset about the behaviour, it is ALWAYS yes), well then that person has done you a huge favour by upsetting you. They are showing you a part of your behaviour you don't like. Use that opportunity to do the following:

- Own that you run that behaviour to yourself

- Ask yourself 'how do I feel when other people treat me that way'? This is key. If you don't acknowledge how bad it feels, you won't feel the shame, and that shame is the fuel to use to stop yourself behaving that way again. ALWAYS step into the other's person's shoes to see how it feels to be on the receiving end of that behaviour.

- Take responsibility. Go to the people you've treated that way and own your behaviour and apologise. Be totally authentic about your experience - tell them you've realised how awful it must feel to be on the receiving end and you are deeply sorry. It doesn't matter how that person reacts. They may get really angry with you - and it may be really justified, it may not - that's not for you to judge. You are just doing this to transform your own behaviour.

- Make amends!!! This is the most important part. By running the energy stealing behaviour pattern, you have taken energy from your target. It's time to balance things up and give that energy back. What can you do to give it back? Spend time with them? Do a household chore they would normally do? Do something that takes time and effort. This will truly show YOU that you mean it. And you will feel GREAT as this is the most important part of taking ownership and therefore starting to transforming this behaviour.

- Finally, how can you use this behaviour constructively in your life? My main denied energy stealing pattern was bullying people. I used it to put people in states of fear and that really gave me an energy boost. Once I'd gone through the process above with all the people I'd affected, I realised I could use that 'tough' part of my behaviour to confront injustice!!! So it wasn't a bad thing to have this behaviour, I just needed to use it constructively.

So back to my own personal experience over the last few weeks. The control drama. I have had to work hard to stay in compassion, but I have also confronted and when I realised there would be no resolution, I let it go. The minute I did, the universe brought me a great gift which showed me I was on the right path. Phew!!!

This is what I have learned and lived and it is MY PASSION to transform myself and help others to do the same so we can live a magical life of great relationships, peace, empowerment, following our bliss and waking up each morning and feeling excited about the day ahead. That is a completely different place to where I was 13 years ago when I started this transformative journey.

If you would like to create a magical life, I would love to help you. Just let me know!

I came across this quote today:

Most people believe the mind to be a mirror, more or less accurately reflecting the world outside them, not realizing on the contrary that the mind is itself the principal element of creation. – Rabindranath Tagore

One of the wisdoms I gained from choosing my path and studying with my mentor Susie Anthony was the heaven and hell are not places, but rather states of mind.  It was the thoughts I was allowing myself to have on a daily basis that were creating a hell around me.  Those thoughts magnetised the very people, places and things I feared.  This is because thoughts carry a particular frequency and they are sent out from the mind - they then attract situations that are on that frequency.  When I allowed myself to have negative, fearful, judgmental, harsh angry thoughts, I attracted negative, fearful, judgemental, harsh angry people and sitautions into my life.  When I chose to stop those thoughts in the moment and practice positive, grateful, loving, compassionate and understanding thoughts about people and situations, I started to attract positive, grateful, loving, compassionate and understanding people and situations into my life.  I am the creator of my reality.  If I expect life to be hell, it will be.  If I expect life to be heaven on Earth, it is and that's what I am experiencing today.  Two people can live in the same street, right next door to each other and purely based on their thoughts, one can be living in heaven and one in hell.  It has nothing to do with the amount of sunshine, the amount of money you earn, the clothes you wear, whether you have a partner, how good you are at sport etc.  It is all about what you think about the experiences you are having daily.  So next time you find yourself in a negative thought loop, thinking the same old negative thoughts over and over again, STOP, breathe and FORCE yoruself to think about what you're grateful for.  I am grateful for ..... a roof over my head, a comfortable bed to sleep in at night, the feel of my sheets on my skin, the fan keeping me cool on a hot evening, the dinner I had tonight, the clean water I have to drink each day, the lovely coffee I had with my breakfast.   Check in how you feel after you make yourself think about what's great in your life.  Do you feel better?  I bet you do!  That's being in heaven in exactly the same place you were just in hell.  It's really very simple, but it's not alwasy easy due to the habits we allow ourselves to create.  If you stick with it, it will get much easier and before you know it, you'll be loving life.

There are SOOOOO many things to be grateful for!  What are you grateful for today?

Great article about saging or smudging, and the benefits.  I highly recommend this, especially when things are feeling challenging in your home.
